Set your own sound on windows events

You can change the all windows default sound scheme that applied to events in windows and programs, just as you can change the ring tone of your mobile phone. You can add your favorite songs, movies and TV program clips as windows events sound. You can start your computer with your own voice, just record and save it in the Windows Media folder then configure as run this file when computer starts. But make sure these files must be in .wav format, you can not use other sound formats, for example mp3, avi and mp4. But you can convert these formats in .wav using any media converter software or search the web to download your favorite's .wav clips.

Follow the given steps to edit windows default sound settings:

• To enable this feature, you will need to be logged into your computer with administrative rights.

• First click on start button to open control panel and then click here on Sounds and Audio Devices option.

Here a dialog box will appear with the title Sounds and Audio Devices Properties. Select the Sound tab and locate the pull-down menu under the sounds scheme. Here select the windows default scheme and press Ok to save this old sound scheme.

In the Save Scheme As dialog box, type the new name for your favorite scheme and press Ok.

Now under the labeled "Program events" select the event and click on Browse button to add new sound file from Windows Media folder (The default path of windows media folder is C:\Windows\Media).

Now you have created a customized sound scheme with your favorite's sounds for different events.

Press Ok button to load sound.

Increase your system performance

Window Disk Cleanup is very useful tool to increase the performance of your system. You can increase also the free space on the hard disk, because Disk Cleanup utility searches many unnecessary programs and files on your hard drive that you can delete. This tool perform many useful tasks to cleanup your hard disk. For example

• Delete the temporary internet files

• Delete the old windows programs that you are not using.

• Delete all temp Downloaded Program files

• Delete Office Setup files

• Delete Old Chkdsk file

• Delete the Recycle Bin items

• Delete all Setup log files

• Delete the windows temporary files

• Delete the Web Client or Publisher Temporary files.

• Delete all Catalog file for the content indexer.

• You can remove the optional windows components that you are not using

To run the Disk cleanup utility follows the given steps:

Click on Start button, Programs, go to Accessories, and go to System Tools and then click on Disk Cleanup.

Now a window popup will appear to select the hard disk partition with option "Select the drive you want to clean up" for example C, D drive, but you can choose partition one by one for scanning.

Now Disk Cleanup will takes some time to access your system then open a window to show "You can use Disk Cleanup to free up to 112,151 of disk space on drive C" (in this case) available after deleting temporary files. On this window a button "View files" is used to check the detail of the files that you are going to delete.

If you scroll down with in that window, you will get many options to choose, select the all options to clean your system in detail, and then click OK to continue.

On the same window another tab is available with the name "More Options".

Under the more options tab, there are three clean up buttons to clean "Window Components, Installed Programs and System Restore" , select any one of them and press OK to run it.

Increase the computer speed using msconfig utility

You can configure windows XP to boot up using minimum list of startup programs and services. You can boot your system faster by short listing the startup programs and services list. Each item in startup list loads automatically after windows starts. By using the "Windows System Configuration (msconfig)" utility, you can create the list of windows necessary programs which allows for performance improvement while starting up your computer.

Perform the following steps to edit the msconfig utility:

To edit this feature, you will need to be logged into your computer with administrative rights.

First click on Start button to open "Run" and type "msconfig" then press Ok button to run configuration utility.

Here a small windows dialog box will appear with the title "System Configuration Utility". There are many options tab here, for example

• General

• System.ini

• Win.ini

• Boot.ini

• Services

• Startup

But we will discuss here on only Services and Startup tab.

First click on the Startup tab to view the programs list that begins on windows startup.

Here you can examine the all programs list and uncheck the program that is unnecessary or slow down your computer boot up process.

Click on Apply button to save the Startup tab setting.

At home may be you want to prevent your children to access explicit or crude language sites. You can block the unwanted websites in all web browsers without using any third party software. This process only needs to edit the system host file.

Perform the following steps to edit the system host file:

• To active this feature, you will need to be logged into your computer with administrative rights.

• First click on Start button and select "Run". Now type "notepad" c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" then press Ok button to open host file.

Now a notepad window will appear with the title "host – Notepad".

Now locate the line 127.0.0.1 localhost and here press the Enter key to change the line then type the websites name. For example if you want to block site www.myspace.com then type as:

127.0.0.1 localhost

127.0.0.1 www.myspace.com

• Here you can add many sites with prefix 127.0.0.1.

• Now go to File menu and save these setting.

• When you want to restore access to this site, simply remove this line and again save it.

• Close the host file and reboot your computer after any changes to go into effect.

Download the 32-bit or 64-bit tools as per your requirement and place it into the Windows directory.

Open command prompt with administrative privileges and type the following commands

• takeown /f %windir%\explorer.exe
• cacls %windir%\explorer.exe /E /G UserName:F (replace UserName with your username in windows 7)
• taskkill /im explorer.exe /f
• cd %windir%
• start unlockProtectedFeatures.exe

Now you need to re launch the shell by clicking the launch button

Extend Windows 7 from 30 days to 90 Days trail

Follow the procedure below to extend your trail period

1.Firstly, Download Windows 7 Pre-Beta M3 Build 6801 from here.

2. Burn it on a DVD, and install windows 7.
